Birth to 3 Months
Back to Current Updates
6/7 Liam is officially 3 months old now! On Friday, we went to JCPenney to get his 3 month pictures taken. I have to admit, I pulled no punches on the typical baby pictures -- he's peeking out of a blanket, he's in just his diaper and we even have one where he is completely nude on a black background! I figure I only have one time to do it because he will be more like a little boy at his 6 month pictures. I promise not to pull them out when his girlfriends come over ;)

On Thursday, Kim and Nicholas went out to lunch with us and then came over for some play time! It was a lot of fun and Liam and Nicholas are starting to interact with each other. It's really cute. Here's a picture!

6/2 Well, Liam is going through his first cold :( He is doing so much better today but he was pretty sad on Monday and Tuesday. I am convinced Liam is teething -- he is drooling everywhere and he bit me today! I hope this isn't going to be a long teething time for him.

We visited Grandpa, Auntie Mary and Auntie Barbara in Holyoke this weekend for Liam's Welcome Baby Shower. We all had a wonderful time and appreciate all the work Mary and Barbara did to have such a great shower. We missed Grandma and Auntie this weekend and am looking forward to seeing them soon. Liam got to meet so many new friends and relatives!

5/28 Liam is 12 weeks today! He's such a big boy! We went to the Pediatrician yesterday because he was not himself at all -- he wasn't sleeping his usual hours (up every 1.5 hours or so) and I was worried he isn't taking naps anymore. He tends to be rubbing his eyes constantly and getting overtired. Mary Ellen gave him a clean bill of health (he's 14 1/2 lbs now!). Mary Ellen thinks its just a bout he's going through and will come out of it as quickly as he started it. I am reading a good book called "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and am getting some great advice on naps.

David and Christy had their beautiful wedding this weekend and we brought Liam for the festivities. He did well! He had nice naps on so many shoulders during the reception that Momma and Dadda had a chance to enjoy themselves!

Liam is doing great with his Tummy Time. He lifts his head pretty well and is trying his hardest to roll over! I made a video but am in the process of figuring out how to use the software to download and edit the movies. But it will be very soon and you can watch Buster in action!

5/10 Liam went to his 2 month appointment today with Mary Ellen, his Nurse Practitioner. Boy, does he like, Mary Ellen. He's such a little flirt now, laughing and smiling and cooing at all the ladies. He now weighs 13 lbs. 3 oz. (75th-90th percentile) so he's a little chubba bubba :). He grew 2 inches to 23 inches (50th percentile) and his head circumference is 40 cm (50th percentile). He is pretty well purportioned since he is in the low end of the weight percentile. The poor little guy had his 4 immunization shots and he was very unhappy but momma comforted him and he got over it pretty quickly. He's just sleeping for a good portion of the day and his temp is normal.

Liam's last month (and Momma's) has had it's ups and downs. He is a very happy baby now that we have worked out our milk imbalance problems. His gassiness is under control and he sleeps about 5-6 hour stretches at night now! Momma and Dadda sleep a little more these days and aren't so sleep deprived! Liam can hold his head so well! And he is so strong! Mary Ellen says he has surpassed the normal development milestones and told me to look forward to lots of toys going into Liam's mouth now that he has discovered how to use his hands. He has great coping skills by sucking on his hands.

Liam's Christening has been booked for June 20th -- Father's Day! It will be such a nice treat for Patrick's first Father's Day.

4/5 Guess who is 1 month old today! Liam went to his 1 month well appointment today. He is 10 lbs. 4 oz. and 21 in. now (he's getting so big!) and got another Hepetitis B shot (he was NOT happy). The little guy is doing wonderfully. He's in the 50-75th percentile for weight, 25th percentile for height and 50th percentile for head circumference. The doctor agrees he is a very talkative baby and agrees with our decision to move him to his crib now. Mommy and Daddy have to sleep, too! Then we got to visit Daddy at his office and meet all the nice people he works with!

3/18 Liam gained another POUND in a week!!!! He is really filling out now and we are able to start letting him sleep through to 5 hours at night if he has eaten enough during the day. Unfortunately, Liam has some gas issues and has been having problems getting it out -- his poor little tummy is so hard from all the gas. We are going to try dropping milk products from my diet and see how he does. He's having a rough day today -- hopefully we can fix this problem for him.

3/17 We visited the Children's Hospital in Lexington today for a renal ultrasound. Liam has a skin tag on his ear and there has been a corrolation between ear tags and kidney problems. Liam was not happy with the procedure -- he had a complete meltdown before giving up and letting the technician do what she must. I was very sad :( But everything looked great and Liam's kidneys are healthy!

3/11 Liam gained 13 ozs!!!!!! Mary Ellen was looking for .5 - 1.5 ozs and was AMAZED! He's starting to fill out and we are going to cut supplementation down to 3-4 times a day and 2 1/2 hour feedings until Monday where we can go for 3 hours -- if he doesn't ask for it before then.

3/8 Liam met his Nurse Practitioner, Mary Ellen, today. Since Liam lost some extra weight, Mary Ellen suggested that we supplement Liam's meals with an extra ounce in a bottle (I've chosen to pump my breastmilk instead of supplementing formula)and feeding every 2 hours. He is very strong, though, and very alert. We will check on in 4 days to see how it's going!

3/7 Liam Patrick is home! We were discharged from the hospital today and Liam met his puppy, Holly and his kitty, Sadie. Both Holly and Sadie have accepted (somewhat) Liam. He has lost about 10% of his body weight since birth, so we will be calling the Pediatrician's office tomorrow to see them about his weight.
